The magic number is 20 pounds

As today's leaderboard changes by the minute almost, keep in mind this number: 20 pounds. There were 29 pros who weighed-in 20 pounds-plus on Day 1. At the end of the day, that will probably be a minimum to keep anyone in contention today. Obviously, that's a 4-pound average.

The totals for Day 1 were as follows: 124 anglers, 94 5-bass limits, 543 fish, 1,801-14 total pounds. That's a 3.32 average for all the fish weighed Wednesday, headed by a 7-12 big bass caught by Ken Iyobe. Ott DeFoe had a 7 1/2-pounder.

And keep in mind this from Aaron Martens, said near the end of yesterday's weigh-in: "There are a bunch of guys that are holding back. They caught 20 pounds today and started laying off of them."
