Hite full of confidence

You could almost predict Brett Hite would have 20 pounds today, according to BASSTrakk, based on his confidence at the Day 2 weigh-in. "Things are looking pretty good," he said. "I've got a lot of confidence in what I'm doing. If I get a bite, it seems to be a big one."

Hite claims he's doing something a little different than most, but wasn't about to get specific. "There are no secret spots, so you've got to come up with a couple of little tricks to get these fish to bite. They're down there, but they've seen a lot of baits."

Hite is known for his drop shotting expertise. And drop shotting has become more of a go-to technique for a lot of pros as a way to get the heavily pressured bass to bite. Another advantage to drop shotting is knowing when your bait is in "the sweet spot," which at Kentucky Lake means a bed of mussel shells.

"You pretty much know when you're going to get a bite," Hite said. "You can feel that stuff down there and know you're in the right area."
