One keeper means Jones makes Classic

We just pulled up next to Texas pro Alton Jones and he was happy to visit with us. Turns out Jones caught a keeper on his very first cast today. "Some people think that's bad luck, but I don't," he said.

Jones came into this tournament sitting in 20th place in AOY, so all he needed to do in this tournament to make the Classic is weigh in one bass. So that fish is pretty important to Jones. Since catching that fish he's added four more small keepers to his livewell.

Of course he still needs to make it back to the weigh-in for these fish to count. With the wind today he's not taking any chances. "I'm giving myself 2 hours to get back," he said with a smile.

Jones didn't make the Classic last year so I imagine he's feeling pretty blessed to make the
2016 Classic.
