Greg Hackney caught three 3-pounders in about five minutes yesterday morning, according to BASSTrakk. Then Hackney weighed a 5-bass limit totaling a tournament-leading 21-7. Hackney said he caught only six keepers yesterday, so what happened to those 3-pounders?
“Those must have been 4-pounders,” Hackney said with a smile after weighing-in. “These smallmouth are funny looking.”
BASSTrakk currently shows Hackney in the lead today by 1 1/2 pounds and, again, three 3-pounders in the livewell. So it makes you wonder a bit about how much weight Hackney actually has. And Hackney doesn’t really care. He doesn’t have anything at stake in this event.
“I’m probably less motivated than I’ve ever been at a bass tournament,” Hackney said.
Motivation, obviously, isn’t a requirement for Greg Hackney to catch bass.
