Chris Lane just hit the deck – his boat deck, after missing a difference maker. He had put down his crankbait rod and was flipping a jig when a "5- or 6-pounder" bit.
"I probably set the hook too quick," said Lane, after picking himself up from a prone position. "I'm going to come back and catch her."
Anything 4 pounds and up has been a difference-maker in this event. Aaron Martens has the big bass so far – an 8-pounder caught Thursday, when Mark Davis caught a 7-3. Clifford Pirch had the big bass Friday – a 6-10.
