Following Faircloth

After most of the day without any cell service, I'm finally back in range enough to check in and see how things are going.

I was with Faircloth, who was fishing in Fairport, Mich., some 30 or more miles straight east of Escanaba and across Big Bay de Noc.

Faircloth can see the boundary line of acceptable fishing water for this event.

The day started slow, no catches until 10:15 this morning and from that point on, Faircloth has hooked up about every 15 or 30 minutes. He's culled several times and the last I talked with him he had 14 pounds. That could easily change if he made it back to the west side early and OK.

It wouldn't be an easy ride. There were 5-footers in the middle of Bay de Noc where I last saw him.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. After three days of wind cancellations, it's interesting to note a cold front pushed through last night, just one more kink the weather has provided this week.
