You’ve got to go big

“You’ve got to go big,” is the quote of the day and the words spoken by Chris Lane.

So true. Yesterday all of the top 20 anglers had over 20 pounds with 18 pound weights into the mid-20s on the score board.

Today it’ll be another slugfest. To make the cut it will indeed take thinking big since everyone’s focus will be catching heavy weights. There will be no holding back. You can’t do that here and under this kind of bite.

One emerging factor is wind, although it’s not blowing like during practice.

From Edwin Evers: “There’s a different wind today and it’s blowing out of the northeast. Yesterday we didn’t really have any.”

“I might have to go shallow and go flipping,” he said during Bassmaster Live. “If this cranking deal falls apart then I’m going to go have some fun flipping.”

Meanwhile, that of course, is what Tommy Biffle is doing. In one photo taken by marshal Layne Boudreaux you seen the sport’s master of flipping and pitching unhooking a Biffle Bug from a keeper. Biffle has 10 pounds in the boat thus far.

Also on Live, Chris Lane had this to add about the wind.

“Wind isn’t good for the shad bite and it’s going to change this shallow water bite.”
