Weathering the storm

The rain continues to drip into rain gauges around La Crosse. The National Weather Service forecast calls for an 80% chance of rain today with already one inch falling in the area. More is on the way.

The weather will indeed will play a key factor in tournament strategies through Sunday. Here’s why.

With the front slow to pass the cloudy conditions will prevail through Sunday. That’s when the big change occurs with sunny skies in the forecast. Tomorrow the rain disappers while the wind  blows from the northeast at 7-14 mph as the front finally moves out.

What’s happening with fishing strategies today will continue tomorrow, excluding the wind. Until the front moves out the bass will continue roaming and generally stay scattered in the strike zone. Things will tighten up on Sunday when the sun comes out, as the bass move tighter to the cover.

That will surely cause a shift in game plans beginning tomorrow afternoon and into Sunday. Fish positioning will begin changing with the windier conditions.

With more of the same cloudy conditions that means the top anglers must expand on the patterns that are producing successful results. Jordon Lee is on track to doing just that, having visited three similar areas already today.
