Hank Cherry just took the lead away from Chris Lane but he’s not at all concerned.
Several times Lane has referred to the hours between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. as the best hours of the day for him.
That timeframe is coming up and Lane says every fish he puts in the livewell from now on is a bonus today. That’s a heady comment, considering the company he shares at the top of the scoreboard.
But Lane is very dialed into this topwater pattern. He’s focusing on creek mouths featuring isolated vegetation. Post-spawn bass are funneling from the backs of those creeks into the main lake for the summer. The mouths are the final transition areas for the migratory bass.
As for those bonus bass, Lane needs a couple of those after Hank Cherry just added an 8-pounder to his livewell.
