Takahiro Omori is looking to start culling 4 1/2 pounders and has the lead with 25 pounds, 12 ounces.
While that’s not huge breaking news what is noteworthy is his area. More than anything else, it’s nearer the weigh-in site than where most of the Top 12 are fishing. The storm is bearing down on Mille Lacs, too.
What that could mean is while other anglers are fighting boat control–either in route to safety or while fishing–Omori can stay put. Time is on his hands under this scenario. That means he can fish longer and potentially get the 5-pounders he needs to cull up.
