Okeechobee water level

Wind has more of an influence on Lake Okeechobee bass fishing than making the water rough and dirty.

Wind also influences water level and Ott DeFoe just proved the point.

“There’s a foot less water in here,” he said.

The spot he referred to was actually dry.

On a flat, wide open fishery like Okeechobee a strong, sustained wind creates a current that pushes water down lake. As a result, the water level raises on the downwind side.

There is a positive side to the windy conditions. Wind-driven current is the result. Bass, of course, like current, although too much of it on Okeechobee can cause the turbid conditions they dislike.
