The mystery of the last fish has been revealed.
I got close enough to Zaldain to ask him what he had. He responded with “about 9 pounds.”
When I responded with how can you let that last one go and only have 9 pounds.
He simply asked: “You have any Mountain Dew?”
That’s a silly question in the Ozarks. But the last fish which he said was bleeding he didn’t want to take a chance on.
Mountain Dew on a fish wound helps stop the bleeding. He had a dead fish yesterday and knows he can’t afford the penalty. With a little Mountain Dew in the boat he may be able to save a few ounces. But we are still saying he’s got more than 10 pounds in the well
