Kevin VanDam was just hooked up – first with an eight-pounder, which he landed, then with the Strike King 10XD crankbait, which he caught the fish on. This was easily the most dramatic five or 10 minutes of Bassmaster LIVE footage ever – a big bass, a big crankbait and big pain!
But VanDam, being the veteran he is, calmly called over photographer Garrick Dixon to do the ol’ hook removal “string trick.” If you’ve never done this, it was as good of a how-to lesson as you’ll ever see.
However, the image of VanDam trying to cull a small bass from his livewell while adding the eight-pounder was tough to watch. Ouch!
