Mike Iaconelli is currently in second place, according to BASSTrakk, with 21-8. Iaconelli has a reputation for big-eyeing his fish – estimating high, rather than low. But this may be one time when he’s got more than he thinks.
“I’m having one of those crazy, magic days,” Iaconelli told photographer James Overstreet in the last hour. That came after Iaconelli landed a giant. Overstreet estimated 7 pounds. Iaconelli didn’t even want to guess, saying, “I don’t know. This is a completely different animal.”
Iaconelli has always been “an excitable boy.” It’s part of what makes him unique. But he’s extra excited today.
“I’m a mess,” Iaconelli said.
