Ehrler’s reversed mindset

Yesterday Brent Ehrler was mentally off. The evidence was the frustrating show of emotions visible in the gallery and LIVE after he missed fish after quality fish.

Ehrler is a highly skilled angler and the fish came unhooked by no fault of his own.

Today is an about face on the scoreboard and his attitude. He’s upbeat. So positive that he’s predicting weight he needs to climb the leader board.

And strangely enough he’s added yet another interesting twist to the mulit-dimensional fishing strategies unfolding here on the Potomac River.

Ehrler is alternating between a Swimming Senko, a homemade bladed jig and a wacky rigged Senko. And he’s sight fishing with that wacky rig on a lightweight spinning rig. In the 100 degree heat index weather during the middle of August.

Ehrler just switched to the wacky rig after seeing 3 and 4 pounders cruising past his boat. He just boated one of those and made it a cull up.

“I saw that one eat it,” he said with a laugh.

What’s good for the pros in applying unconventional angling wisdom is good for the average angler seeking to catch more bass.
