Stephen Browning is one of the seven anglers on the scoreboard with at least 20 pounds.
That’s a big deal for the veteran Arkansas pro. The reason is history and he hopes to break it here. Browning, a B.A.S.S. pro since the early 1990s, has only one other Top 10 in the state of Florida. That’s over 250 events fished since 1995.
That is surprising considering his top angling strength. Browning is a master of the long rod. He can find the “pattern within a pattern” in thickly vegetated areas better than most of his peers. The reason is his river fishing skills. There’s no moving water on Lake Okeechobee, but the vegetation is here.
Browning, for most of the day, has consistently stayed inside the Top 10. Look for him to be a contender for a weekend stayover at Okeechobee.
