I just arrived at the Strike King gig at the Blue Bank Resort in Hornbeak, Tenn. I'll give you a full update on everything we did here next Monday. In the meantime, let's talk about last week.
We fished a tournament out in Oklahoma. It was a hybrid type of thing where we fished two days and then played poker one day. It's the first event of its kind I've ever participated in. I have to tell you it was a lot of fun. I hope they do some more of that kind of stuff. It's different and gives us a break from the usual tournament format.
Dean Rojas and his partner won the fishing part of it. The bite was off; it was really tough. But Dean showed his stuff and caught a 10-pounder. That was all she wrote for the rest of us. It's hard to overcome a fish that big unless you're fishing a giant factory.
My partner and I did OK at the poker tables on Sunday. We didn't win that part of it either, but we did get into the wallets of some of the other anglers so all was not lost. Braggin' rights are important with this group of guys, you know.
Later this morning I have photo shoots and then several interviews. After that, we (the Strike King pro staff) will head to the swimming pool to work on new baits. This will be a busy three days, but well worth the effort.
Strike King is one of the most innovative companies in the industry. Their baits offer real value. They catch fish and are sold at reasonable prices so that everyone can fish with them. You can't ask for more than that. It's a real pleasure to be associated with that kind of company.
I can't wait for you guys to get your hands on our new stuff. It's the real deal. If I sound excited about all this it's because I am. Hopefully next week I'll be able to give you some of the details about what we have heading your way. You'll be as excited as I am once you see it — more importantly once you fish with it.
Sorry to cut this short but I've got to go to work. So, until next week, remember — it's all about the attitude.
