In 2003, the first year the award was given, Takahiro Omori jumped 98 places to finish 40th overall. Omori cemented his comeback by winning bass fishing’s world championship, the 2004 Bassmaster Classic, at Lake Wylie, N.C.
In 2007, Fred Roumbanis of California took the title when he finished 12th out of 108 BASS anglers, moving up 57 places from his 69th-place finish in 2006.
