<p>The Bassmaster Classic has the ability to give the winner's career respect, longevity as well as recognition. The same can be said for the winning baits. A win at the Classic might be considered the ultimate in advertising for a lure company, as thousands of anglers will immediately pony up for the lure that won $500,000. Skeet Reese and Boyd Duckett both used a Berkley Chigger Craw in their respective wins, and the little crawfish imitator is now a staple in many anglers' tackleboxes. More recently, Kevin VanDam put Strike King's Red Eye Shad and KVD 1.5 crankbaits on the map - and into thousands of anglers' hands -  when he used them in his 2010 and 2011 Classic wins. There are favorite anglers in this year's Classic field - like Mike McClelland, above - and there are also favorite baits. Here is a list of likely winning candidates.</p>

<p><strong>Storm Wiggle Wart</strong></p> <p>You'd be hard-pressed to find an angler in Oklahoma who doesn't own at least a handful of Wiggle Warts. The trademark wide wobble is something that bass in rocky impoundments can't resist. However, the Wart is usually a warm-weather bait, but if the water warms up enough, you can bet that more than a few anglers will be heaving these classic lures around shallow rocky points and in creeks.</p>

Jim spent hours dropping crawfish into a fish tank to determine the exact fall rate. When it comes to craw imitators, the Eakins Jig takes no backseat.</p>

In cold water, most everything is sluggish and a wide wobble may be unnatural to fish, which is why flat sides are so popular. This is Buckeye's Short Circuit.</p>

The 2013 Classic may well provide the perfect storm for a killer jerkbait bite: bass on Grand eat jerkbaits year-round, and when the waterturns cold many anglers reach for these slim minnow mimickers. This is a Spro McStick, designed my Arkansan adn jerkbait guru Mike McClelland. As with the jerkbait, McClelland is also a favorite.</p>

This hotrod jerkbait is made with a fancy internal weighting system that allows for long casts adn neutral buoyancy, it dives 10-plus-feet deep and has supersharp and strong hooks. Plus, it's got a slightly bigger profile than most jerkbaits. Jason Christie will more than likely have some in his boat.</p>
