On Sept. 3, 2016, 10 Bassmaster Elite Series pros pitted their skills against 10 NY B.A.S.S. Nation anglers on Onondaga Lake, Syracuse, NY.

I Love NY sponsored this three-hour tournament which ran from 6:30 – 9:30 a.m.

There was a three-fish limit and after the tournament, anglers were escorted nearby to the NY State Fairgrounds to weigh in.

The weigh-in was held at noon which the public was able to watch, meet the anglers and ask questions.

The tournament was done to help promote fishing in New York state and also to highlight the recovery of Onondaga Lake. Onondaga Lake which sits on the western edge of the City of Syracuse was once one of the most polluted lakes in the country. It is currently being recovered by various methods, and the fishing along with the water quality has improved greatly.

The winners: Fletcher Shryock with a three-fish total of 12.12 pounds and a 5.97-pound largemouth bass on the Elite Series Pro side. On the NY B.A.S.S. Nation side Brian Eisch with 11.99 pounds. Brian’s biggest largemouth was 5.15 pounds.
