	Region 2 saw the closest voting, with Jeff Kriet receiving 17.8% of the votes to edge Denny Brauer, who had 17.4 percent. </p>

	Kriet’s margin of victory, 551 votes or 0.4 percent, was miniscule considering there were a total of 597,867 votes cast among the 91 candidates.</p>

	Aaron Martens will be returning to Montgomery, Ala., winning Region 3 with 16.6 percent of the votes, the smallest percentage of a regional winner. </p>

	Martens shared the region with popular anglers like Tim Horton (9.5 percent) and Greg Hackney (8.6 percent) as well as local favorite Russ Lane, which could have split the voting.</p>

	Skeet Reese topped Region 4 with the second-highest percentage of votes, 23.4. </p>

	Davy Hite had a victory in 2011, and he finished eighth in the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year standings to punch his ticket to the postseason. He slipped with a 35th in the Dixie Duel, but maintained his spot.</p>

	A banner year has Casey Ashley singing the tune of All-Star Week. Even with his Elite victory, he was on the bubble for the top eight and climbed to seventh with a 25th at Wheeler, the final event.</p>

	At one point, Terry Scroggins led the TTBAOY race this season after a hot start, but he fell down the list at the Arkansas River. However, he did enough in the last event to keep his position in the top eight.</p>

	Steve Kennedy still had a mathematical shot at Wheeler to win the TTBAOY title, although he would have needed a miracle to overcome both Kevin VanDam and Edwin Evers to capture his first AOY title.</p>

	Elite rookie Ott DeFoe showed he's the real deal, having turned in the best debut performance since Steve Kennedy in 2006. He took fourth in points and walked away with the Rookie of the Year crown.</p>

	Possibly relaxed from his Opens victory and Classic qualification, Gerald Swindle fished as well as he had since his TTBAOY season. He qualified to All-Star Week in third, and he should be happy to be home in Alabama.</p>

	Edwin Evers kept the pressure on in his quest for TTBAOY until the end, but he finished second for the second year running. He started Wheeler just 55 points behind VanDam, but ended 153 out of his ultimate goal.</p>

	Kevin VanDam closed out his fourth consecutive and seventh overall AOY title, making ground on the record of Roland Martin's nine. KVD would like nothing more than an encore performance in Alabama, where he can take away the $100,000 All-Star Week prize.</p>
