College: National Championship final

The final weigh-in gets underway as the Top 5 teams head in on the final day of the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops.

The stage is set.

Carhartt Bassmaster College Tournament Director Hank Weldon sets the scene. The Top 5 went out today, but only the top 4 teams will move on from here after a National Champion is crowned.

B.A.S.S. Nation Director Jon Stewart will be serve as weigh-master.

First to the scales, Day 2 leaders from Nicholls State.

Unfortunately a tough day of fishing resulted in zero weighable fish for Nicholls State.

Tyler Rivet and Allyson Marcel brought in the Bass Pro Nitro Big Bag of the event on Day 2.

For now, Nicholls State takes the hot seat with the lead.

But Tyler doesn’t look very confident.

Allyson talks with Hank Weldon.

Next to the scales, the 2014 National Champions from UNC Charlotte.

UNCC also had a tough day, Andrew Helms talks about the fishing.

Despite not registering a weighable fish, Jake Whitaker is still happy to be here.

One team down, three to go.

Next up, the University of Minnesota Trevor Lo and Chris Burgan.

Trevor’s parents surprise him by showing up for weigh-in and he spots them in the crowd.

Will their two fish be enough to take the lead?

Yes they will, Minnesota bumps Nicholls State out of the hot seat as they take the lead.

Minnesota brought in 8 fish over the course of 3 days for a total of 17-4. (3 fish daily limit)

Burgan’s 3-13 smallmouth also takes over the Carhartt Big Bass honors.

Nicholls State congratulates the new leaders.

Minnesota settles in.

Only two teams remain.

The University of Alabama steps to the scales, unfortunately with no fish.

Frankie Appaluccio and Logan Shaddix are still happy to be here.

Minnesota hangs on through one team.

Trevor Lo looks a little worried about the next team.

Texas A&M steps to the scales.

Texas A&M University lead on Day 1, fell to second on Day 2 and now sit one team away from a National Championship.

And they’ve done it. Josh Bensema and Matthew Mcardle of Texas A&M University are your 2015 Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Champions.

Minnesota heads off stage…

as the Aggies head out front.

Josh is obviously elated.

Talking about the week’s events.

Matthew is also on cloud nine.

Texas A&M didn’t allow the tough fishing to deter them from the task at hand. Knowing that everyone had to fish the same fishery, the Aggies put their head down and showed what true champions are made of.

The University of Alabama’s Frankie Appaluccio and Logan Shaddix finish 5th, missing the bracket by one painful spot.

Jake Whitaker and Andrew Helms of UNC Charlotte finish 4th and move on to the College Bassmaster Classic Bracket starting tomorrow.

Tyler Rivet and Allyson Marcel of Nicholls State University finish 3rd and also move on to the bracket.

Trevor Lo and Chris Burgan of the University of Minnesota finish 2nd and will be competing in the bracket as well.
