Classic boat washers in action

Volunteers from Splendora and Willis High Schools in the Houston area (along with Nathan Reeves and Logan Beverung) showed up in the boat yard on Day 1 of the GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods with one simple goal.

Clean every boat and truck soon to make their appearance in Minute Maid Park.

Star brite generously donated their Boat Guard and…

…of course some wash mitts to get the job done.

Another critical component were wheel chocks to make sure their job didn’t get away from them.

Hank Weldon and Jon Stewart from B.A.S.S. were on hand to witness the festivities or just joyride in a golf cart. Probably a combination of both.

As soon as the first boat arrives, the volunteers get to work.

A flurry of activity any time a boat shows up.

It was cloudy and cool, and a pretty enjoyable time for the volunteers.

The boats start to line up, and the crew gets going on the current target, Randall Tharp’s Phoenix.

Chris Zaldain’s boat is next.

One benefit of doing this work is getitng an up-close look at some very nice bass boats.

While they are waiting on a boat to clean, the volunteers just started cleaning the trucks too.

They got a good look at Gerald Swindle’s new pattern on his Tundra. Pretty sharp!
