Zona to throw first pitch at White Sox game

Mark Zona, host of The Bassmasters and Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show, will throw out the first pitch this Saturday when the Chicago White Sox take on the Oakland Athletics.

Bass fishing’s own Mark Zona, host of TV’s The Bassmasters and Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show, is set to throw out the first pitch when the Chicago White Sox take on the Oakland Athletics on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, in Chicago.

Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show airs on the Outdoor Channel, and Zona’s pitch at the U.S. Cellular Field is part of a series of summer events that bring together the Outdoor Channel and the Chicago White Sox.

Chicago native Zona is thrilled that two of America’s favorite pastimes – baseball and fishing – will be combined as the White Sox, Outdoor Channel and XFINITY team up for a special night promoting “Outdoor Channel Night at U.S. Cellular Field.”

Another highlight of the Outdoor Channel Night is that the first 20,000 fans at Saturday’s game will receive a special custom camouflage White Sox hat commemorating the event.

When asked about his upcoming appearance, the Outdoor Channel star said,“I’m nervous, and that’s something I’m not used to!” No doubt, Zona’s casting arm gets plenty of practice with all of the fishing he does; now his pitching arm will be put to the test.

Zona recently was spotted playing catch at a Bassmaster Elite Series event with B.A.S.S. co-owner Jerry McKinnis. See the photos here.
