A surprise Christmas bass

How did that bass get in my swimming pool?

‘Twas four days before Christmas
And all through the skies
Many things were stirring
But some weren’t meant to fly

On a trip I was
To find a new tournament site
When a phone call from home
Told me of an unusual plight

My daughter, Olivia
said something was quite the matter
There is a bass in the pool
And it looked like it had splattered

A bird must have dropped it
On the way to its nest
But now the dogs are barking
At the family’s new pest

There’s a big hole in the screen
Where the fish fell through
Another expense before Christmas
To fix the lanai and make it new

My work is following me home
This one’s a pound or so
It probably came from Lake Tarpon
Where big bass are known to grow

How ironic that I plan B.A.S.S. events
And fish fall in my swimming tank
But with this kind of luck
I wish I worked at a bank

So Merry Christmas to all
And may your New Year be filled with bliss
The next time you go fishing
I hope you catch fish as easy as this
