Mission Statement:

  • To promote the sport of bass fishing
  • To stimulate awareness of bass fishing as a major sport
  • To enjoy the sport of fishing through friendly competition
  • To experience the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat when mere ounces count
  • To stimulate awareness of conserving our natural resources through catch and release and to promote full adherence to all conservation codes
  • To improve skills as a bass angler through a fellowship of friendly exchange of expert bass catching techniques and ideas
  • To maintain a friendly rapport with lake front property owners
  • To foster the growth of good sportsmanship and to promote sportsmen like behavior of its members both on and off the water
  • To offer our state conservation department our organized moral and political support and encouragement and to be aware of the politics that may change our sport in a negative way and work together to prevent this from happening (example: lake usage fees)
  • To use bass fishing as a means to develop lasting friendships
  • To encourage boating safety at all times
  • And most importantly to have fun with the time spent on the water

Geographic region: Northeast Bassmasters covers the tri-state area that surrounds New Jersey.  New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut are the states that we draw our anglers from.  We have fishermen from all 4 states participating in our events.

Best Lakes: Lake Hopatcong is the largest lake in New Jersey and produces quality fish all season long.

Greenwood Lake is split between New York and New Jersey with a reciprocal fishing and boating agreement between both states.

Candlewood Lake in Connecticut is a favorite in the spring when the surrounding states have a closed season to protect spawning bass.

Average Turnout : On average we have between 20 and 30 teams participating in our events.

The 20 teams with the highest point finishes for the season are invited to fish The Northeast Bassmasters Tournament of Champions. At the end of this event, cash and plaques are awarded for First, Second, and Third Place Champions as well as plaques for the First, Second, and Third Place Teams of the year from each Division. In addition, plaques and cash are awarded to both Divisional Big Bass Pool winners. During The Northeast Bassmasters Tournament of Champions awards ceremony, members enjoy pizza, soft drinks and bottled water while participating in free raffles where everyone goes home with a prize valued from a minimum of $25 to $150. This ceremony is all about ending the season on a high note for all participants. Northeast Bassmasters also takes part in Wounded Warriors on the Water, a tournament where veterans recovering from catastrophic injuries are paired with a boater for a day of tournament fishing. All proceeds from the event’s raffles and donations go to the Wounded Warrior Fund to help our heroes and their families. We take pride in our sport, our country, and those who defend our way of life.
