McKinnis, Jeffreys on Ike Live! Sunday night

Fishing TV icon Jerry McKinnis and sports cinematographer Mark Jeffreys join Mike Iaconelli on the Visual Media Edition of Ike Live!, Nov. 8.

PITTSGROVE, N.J. — Jerry McKinnis, outdoor sports pioneer, Fishing Hall of Fame inductee and one of the most influential figures in fishing today will join Bassmaster Elite Series pro Mike Iaconelli on Ike Live!, along with sports documentarian Mark Jeffreys, founder of Z3 Media and producer of 20’ Deep biopics. The Ike Live! episode will air Sunday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. ET, live-streaming at MikeIaconelli.com.

In the early 1960s, McKinnis began filming himself as he fished for a five-minute fishing report on the local TV station. That led to an hour-long show, Arkansas Sportsman, and in a few years, The Fishing Hole. McKinnis seized the opportunity to build the sport and his audience in 1979 when he convinced a little start-up network, ESPN, to include The Fishing Hole, in its lineup.

McKinnis became one of the fishing industry’s most influential producers. The company he started, JM Associates, now delivers more than 70 hours of programming a year for sports and outdoor channels, along with the Bassmaster Classic. In June, he released his autobiography, Bass Fishing, Brown Dogs & Curveballs.

Cinematographer Mark Jeffreys serves other segments of the ever-expanding fishing audience by producing exciting visual materials for fishing businesses and compelling stories for regional professional sports networks and athletes. He also produces live-streaming broadcasts (like Ike Live!) and supports other emerging media. His own live-streaming show, Bass Talk Live, airs on BassZone.com, the online fishing news site he founded in 1998.

With 30 years of production and management experience, Jeffreys and his firm, Z3 Films, pursue the latest technologies available to capture the thrill and visceral sensation of The Big Catch, whether from the sky via a drone, the land via a hat camera, or the sea via underwater camera.
