Martens featured in Runner’s World

Aaron Martens hit the mainstream media recently when Runner's World took notice of his dedication to running 20 to 30 miles per week — between bass tournaments.

LEEDS, Ala. — Aaron Martens feels “almost invincible” on the water, now that he pounds the pavement.

That’s what he told Runner’s World, the bible of many running enthusiasts. The media outlet contacted him regarding his dedication to both sports — bass fishing and running.

“Our boats go close to 80 miles per hour,” Martens told Runner’s World. “You hit five waves a second. Running has strengthened my core, so I no longer feel that jarring. I feel almost invincible.”

Martens also credited running with keeping him mentally sharp and with preventing injuries during repetitive motions like casting.

Martens runs 20 to 30 miles per week, and he’s competed in several races, including the Ragnar Relay that he ran with some B.A.S.S. staffers and some wives of Bassmaster Elite Series pros.
