Elite Series pro Kevin VanDam, and NASCAR driver Ryan Newman hit the water Thursday for Fish Your Bass Off, a fundraiser for MIS Cares, Michigan International Speedway’s charitable arm.
The second-annual event at Jerry’s Pub on Wampler’s Lake raised more than $40,000 for MIS Cares. The event included a bass fishing competition, live and silent auctions and a fish dinner.
VanDam, from Kalamazoo, Mich., and Newman, in town for this weekend’s Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway, won Fish Your Bass Off, with a total of five fish weighing 14 pounds, 8 ounces.
