Eldon Bassmasters hold 20th kids tournament

The Eldon Bassmasters kept busy helping 91 kids fish during the club’s annual kids fishing tournament.

ELDON, Mo. — The Eldon Bassmasters celebrated a milestone when the club held its 20th annual Free Kids Fishing Tournament June 17 at a local farm pond.

“It turned out really well, “said Faron Morris, club president. “We had 218 fish caught. There were a lot of big catfish caught this year.”

Morris is the chairman of the event that drew 91 kids ages 15 years old and younger. “It means so much to me that we can offer these kids a chance to fall in love with the sport of fishing so I want to do whatever it takes to make that happen and host the best event we possibly can,” he said. “This year we were able to give each participant a fishing rod as a door prize, as well as many other great gifts.”

Prizes were also given to winners in three age groups: 6 years and under; 7 to 10; and 11 to 15. Winners for each age group were the following: 6 and under – Kenzlie Murphy, first; Ben Morris, second; Kydence Murphy, third; Makennah Beagley, big fish. 7-10 – Chloe Sartian, first; Gavin Davison, second; Alyssa Bliesath, third; Molly Seyer, big fish. 11-15 – Caleb Pardue, first; Tyler Martin, second; Ethan Zuck, third; Domonic Tittle, big fish.

Club members who helped during the tournament were Roger Edwards, Randy Davis, Rodney Bowersox, Russell Crane, Don Masson, Don Campbell, Robert Murphy, Nick Ault and Morris.
