DeFoe’s charity tournament set for Douglas Lake on Oct. 31

DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — You can compete in Ott DeFoe’s third annual tournament on Saturday, Oct. 31, and if you win the eBay auction, you can even be DeFoe’s partner.

The buddy tournament on Douglas Lake is DeFoe’s way of giving back to his East Tennessee community and to the event’s beneficiary, the Mountain Music Kids Fishing Tournament.

“It makes me happy to host a tournament on Douglas Lake,” said DeFoe. “I love seeing familiar faces and meeting new anglers and seeing them all enjoy the event.

“Raising funds for the Mountain Music Kids Tournament, which lit a fire in me for fishing as a kid, makes me very proud,” continued DeFoe. “I also like getting to fish the event each year with someone very passionate about tournament fishing.”

One of the unique aspects of the tournament is the opportunity to fish as DeFoe’s partner. The eBay auction ends Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 8 p.m.

Sponsors kick in heavily to support the event with thousands of dollars of gear and gift cards for door prizes, high finishers and $750 in prizes for the auction winner. ORCA coolers gives away one of its premium coolers for the Big Bass Contest, and other sponsors help make sure the prizes reward the top finishing teams.

The winner of the tournament will receive $1,000 cash, plus a $500 gift card to Bass Pro Shops. Other top finishers will receive Bass Pro Shops gift cards, Costa sunglasses, an Aqua-Vu camera, a Minn Kota charger, a LakeMaster chip or a Fenwick/Pflueger combo.

Registration for the $100 entry fee event is from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, at the Bass Pro Shops in Kodak, Tenn., and at the Shady Grove Boat Ramp the morning of the event. Tournament hours are safe light to 2:30 p.m.
