7:12 a.m. Searching for his first fish of the day, Montgomery tries a buzzbait on a riprap bank.

7:21 a.m. Montgomery fishes a shallow clay point on Lake R.

7:51 a.m. Montgomery flips laydowns with a creature.

8:21 a.m. Montgomery tries a bladed jig around docks.

9:02 a.m. Montgomery combs a main lake flat with a bladed jig.

9:59 a.m. Montgomery swings aboard a keeper bass that hit his bladed jig on a dock.

9:59 a.m. Montgomery’s first keeper of the day, a 1 pound, 12 ounce largemouth, hit his bladed jig on the corner of a dock.

12:46 p.m. Montgomery’s fifth keeper of the day, a 2-15 largemouth, hit a deep-diving crankbait on a submerged roadbed.

1:35 p.m. Montgomery spent the final minutes of his day on the submerged roadbed where he caught most of his fish. The roadbed was loaded with brush, rocks and baitfish.
