The college series heads west

Western teams will compete on Folsom Reservoir, April 30 to May 2. They will vie for the Top 10 spots, which will qualify them for the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship slated for this summer.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Carhartt Bassmaster College Series presented by Bass Pro Shops has completed half of this year’s conference regionals. The next one up will be the Western Regional in Sacramento.

Western teams will compete on Folsom Reservoir, April 30 to May 2. They will vie for the Top 10 spots, which will qualify them for the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship slated for this summer.

This will be a new opportunity for the West Coast anglers as they will get to experience an Elite Series event. First, on April 28, the student anglers will attend a pre-tournament registration and briefing with the Elite Series pros.

The full field of college anglers will compete on Folsom for the first two days. On the final day, it will be just the Top 20.

The final day, the college competitors will travel to Sacramento’s Discovery Park, where they will weigh in their fish on the Bassmaster Elite Series stage in front of a huge crowd, just like the Elite Series pros do.

“With our Elite Series tournament coming out West this year, we wanted to take advantage of having not only the crowds, but also the Elite Series anglers and incorporate that into this College Series event,” said Hank Weldon, B.A.S.S. College Series manager. “This is an opportunity that most college anglers only dream of.”

Western College anglers who want to register need to have all of their paperwork submitted by April 10, 2015. To register, click here.
