Brown, Kamoen win CastingKids in Connecticut

Ivy Brown and Evan Kamoen won the Connecticut B.A.S.S. Nation CastingKids Championship, March 28.

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — Ivy Brown and Evan Kamoen won the 2015 CastingKids Finals, hosted by Tackle the Storm Foundation and Connecticut B.A.S.S. Nation.

The finals were held March 28 at Cabela's in East Hartford.

"The weather was certainly unexpected — snow!" said Sylvia Morris, Connecticut B.A.S.S. Nation president. "Cabela's moved our event inside so we could all be warm and comfortable."

Twelve finalists competed. Brown won in the 7- to 10-year-olds age group, and Kamoen in the 11 to 14 division. Ron Frisk, Connecticut B.A.S.S. Nation high school director, and Terry Baksay, Connecticut B.A.S.S. Nation youth director, were on hand to present their awards to them, which included a $250 college fund award contributed by Tackle the Storm.

All finalists received rod-and-reel combos (one from Tackle the Storm and one from Cabela's), Bryan Kerchal fish whistles and collector cards, and Cabela's goody bags.

Volunteers who organized and ran the event included Ron Frisk, Travis Frisk, Alex Wetherell, Terry Baksay, Lucas Baksay, Blake Baksay and Amber Lollar.
