Bassmaster couple celebrates anniversary between tournaments

Katie and Ryan Davidson enjoyed a wedding rehearsal dinner cake that featured the Bassmaster logo.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Katie and Ryan Davidson are celebrating their one-year wedding anniversary this weekend. That is, after he finishes competing in yet another bass fishing tournament.

"This is my life!" said Katie, whose husband fishes the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Southern Opens. "We do this all the time!"

Katie's sister-in-law surprised the couple with a B.A.S.S.-themed cake at the rehearsal dinner for their wedding last June.

"We loved it!" Katie said.

What if that had been her wedding cake she was surprised with, covered in a B.A.S.S. logo?
"That would have been fine with me," she said, laughing. "I'm a B.A.S.S. lady!"

Ryan is starting from scratch after a robber stole every bit of his fishing stuff just last week, said Katie. Between his competition time and practice time the last few days, he's been spending time on the phone with the insurance company — and in the service shop after the ignition came out of his boat.

But the couple is looking forward to a Nashville getaway over the weekend. "I love it there and he's never been before, so it's going to be fun!"
