Bass angler honored for teaching

Randy Parker of North Carolina's Five County Bassmasters was honored in his community as "Teacher of the Week."

CLAYTON, N.C. — B.A.S.S. Federation Nation members are known for being pillars of their community — police officers, firefighters, teachers and more.

So we find it worthy to recognize those members when their community rewards them.

Randy Parker, tournament and youth director for the Five County Bassmasters, was recently named “Teacher of the Week” by local TV news station, WRAL.

Parker is a biology teacher at Clayton High School in Clayton, N.C. In a video interview, Parker talked about his dedication to the students.

“As they say, [the students] don’t care that you know until they know that you care,” said Parker, a member of the North Carolina B.A.S.S. Federation Nation, so that’s what he tries to do every day — show students that he cares.

Congratulations, Randy!
