Gear Review: Orca Walker Tote

WHAT IS IT?

Orca Walker Tote

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Soft-side coolers have come a long way in recent years as manufacturers continue to expand the possibilities beyond the basic template of what a cooler should look like. Orca has created a lightweight, packable option that combines the reliability of sturdy materials with user-friendly design features that make the Walker Tote a handy option for kayakers, bass boats or bank fishermen.

HOW DO I USE IT?

Measuring 15 inches long, 9.5 inches wide and 15.25 inches tall, this heavily-insulated cooler holds up to 18 cans, with a maximum load of 50 pounds. Made with durable double denier outer material and insulated inner walls, the Walker Tote features the Ultrasonic RF welding like that used in whitewater craft. Made with FDA food grade, BPA-free and anti-microbial materials, Walker Tote features easy open Magnetic split handle, Master Seal size 10 waterproof zipper, durable bottom pad and a water-resistant front pocket.

HOW MUCH?

$199.99

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

That front dry bag pocket is a nice touch. Sure, you can always put your keys, cellphone, wallet, etc., in a jacket pocket or boat console, but the Walker Tote’s pocket is a handy option that keeps everything close at hand — especially convenient for small boats, paddle craft or bank fishing. Also, for small to mid-size coolers and gear bags, I like a shoulder strap because it frees up the hands for other gear. Sling it over your head (like a guitar strap) and the Walker Tote hangs conveniently out of the way when carrying multiple items to the boat, campsite or vehicle.
