Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation takes legislators fishing

In August, the Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation hosted Michigan legislators, Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) and Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC) representatives in the second annual Lake St. Clair bass fishing outing. The purpose of the event was showing the legislators and others the great fishing available on Lake St. Clair while letting bass tournament anglers get to know their state representatives, MDNR staff and MUCC better.

MDNR Fisheries Division biologist and bass tournament liaison Tom Goniea began the day with a short presentation at the Lake St. Clair Fisheries Research Station. Goniea reported that almost 2,000 bass tournaments have registered for 2016 on the new Michigan Fishing Tournament Information System. Results from several hundred events have already been entered into the system to give MDNR a better look at our most popular and best bass fisheries.
