Does Chris Zaldain know the way to San Jose?

Undoubtedly, Chris Zaldain knows the way to San Jose, his hometown. Granted, it was somewhat of an exaggeration that Zaldain was going back home to fish today. But Zaldain did say that he was "going as far from the Golden Gate Bridge as he could get" today. Well, he can get farther from the bridge than he is now – Orwood Tract. But it is quite a bit farther south than where he's been the last three days.

The rumors about Zaldain being in Los Angeles yesterday "putting a 100 down and buying a car," aren't true, although his bag weight dropped to 9-14. And Zaldain did not say, "I'm going back to find some kind of peace of mind in San Jose."

Okay, enough references to the song "Do You Know The Way To San Jose?", which Burt Bacharach and Hal David wrote for Dionne Warwick in the late '60s. To remember that song, you have to be old enough to be collecting "so-called Social Security" (Merle Haggard, "Big City"). I am that old, but I haven't worked "on the books" enough to get much of a check. I'm more like the daddy of "Poke Salad Annie" (Tony Joe White), "…lazy and no count. Claimed he had a bad back."

Enough about me. Zaldain has just left Orwood Tract and is on the move north. He doesn't have a keeper yet.
