It’s not a surprise to see Bill Lowen showing up on Day 1 amongst the early leaders on BASSTrakk. Momentum, or ‘Big Mo’ as it’s sometimes called, is as prevalent in bass fishing as any other sport. Through the years we’ve seen anglers get on rolls that can last an entire season or multiple seasons consecutively. Lowen is coming off a 2nd place finish to Aaron Martens at the last Elite Series event held on Chesapeake Bay, and he’s making another charge up the leaderboard on Day 1 on Lake St. Clair.
Lowen has quietly had a great career, finishing in the money in 69% of the 107 B.A.S.S. events he’s fished, with 14 Top 10 finishes, while closing in on the million-dollar mark in career earnings.
Unfortunately ‘Big Mo’ often works both ways. While some anglers spiral upward, it’s often the case that a downward dose of no ‘Big Mo’ becomes a heavy burden to overcome. Its obvious Aaron Martens is on one of those legendary rolls of momentum, with Bill Lowen and the rest of the bass fishing world trying to keep up.
