If you're in the area and you're thinking about launching a boat on Lake Guntersville today, you better be prepared for a bumpy ride.
The winds are gusting up to 15 mph now, and the only areas that aren't white-capping are the small protected coves and sloughs. Even short rides across the lake are extremely rough, with water splashing over the bow and hitting you in the face just enough to make things miserable.
We saw one sail boat leaned over on its side with its sail almost touching the water. Maybe that happens a lot with sail boats, I don't know. But it looked pretty scary.
It's just not a great day for elective recreational boating, and the conditions are making things much tougher for the 53 Elite Series pros on the lake.
