Hite called his shot today

Yesterday Brett Hite predicted a big finale today saying, "In the morning my primary spot is pretty magical. I hope to start there and get a good stringer. It could go real, real big there."

So it's no surprise that Hite has already caught 14 bass and culled up to 23-3, according to BASStrakk. That weight includes two difference-makers – a 6-pounder and a 5-pounder. Hite has been conserving this place all week, catching some key fish there each day while trying not to burn it before Sunday.

"I think there's the potential for one of those mid to upper 20s bags there," he said. As for what he would like to finish with today, Hite said, "I'd say 27 pounds would be a real strong number.

You come in with that, you're going to have a good shot to win. It's still pretty close."

Hite started the day in 5th place with a three-day total of 68-11, about 3 1/2 pounds behind leader Edwin Evers. As to what it's going to take in total weight to win this tournament, many were skeptical that anyone would reach the 90-pound mark at Kentucky Lake this week. Hite's got almost 92 pounds now.
