Frazier waiting on a birthday present

Today marks Elite Series rookie Micah Frazier's 27th birthday. Maybe making the top 12 final at Kentucky Lake is enough of a present for Frazier, who made the top 12 in his first Elite Series tournament – at the Sabine River in March.

Frazier got an early gift on Day 2, and if nothing else, that should be enough to keep him hopeful during the noon lull today. Frazier said he had 12 pounds in the box when he pulled up on a community hole that he'd wanted to fish before.

"I hadn't been able to get on it," Frazier said. "All day yesterday and today somebody was there. I ran by it and there wasn't a boat there. I idled over it and they were humped up on bottom like they were going to eat."

Frazier culled 4 of the 5 bass he had in his livewells and finished with 26-11. BASSTrakk shows Frazier with 17-4 now. Another bag like the one he caught Thursday would put him near the lead. It has to be encouraging that he's already done it once with a late flurry this week. And, heck, it's his birthday, so why not?
