During the Tuesday afternoon briefing for the GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro, tournament director Trip Weldon referenced a moment from the B.A.S.S. event held on Oklahoma's Grand Lake O' the Cherokees in 1991.
He then asked for a show of hands to see how many of the 56 anglers in this year's Classic field actually fished that event.
Mississippi angler Paul Elias slowly raised his hand all by himself, drawing a round of laughs from the younger anglers in the field.
Elias, who is fishing his 339th B.A.S.S. event this week, will turn 65 later this year. This will be his 16th Classic.
