Jeff Kriet update

Jeff Kriet entered the Toyota Angler of the Year Championship in 48th place with 385 points. The Ardmore, Okla. pro was among those who slid near the brink of Classic qualification at the last event, from 35th place in the AOY standings to his current position, after an 84th place finish at St. Clair. The Oklahoma native has qualified for eight Classics, but didn’t make the field for the ’13 event at Grand Lake. Kriet needs to finish 16th or better to get to 470 points Steve Wright tells me is needed to make the Classic.

Yesterday Kriet held serve. In other words he stayed in 48th place with five fish for 9 pounds 9 ounces.

Today he ran north, where we found him fishing open water. "If I can catch 17 pounds I think I'm back in it," he told us. "I think I can catch more than that."

Yesterday Kriet fished closer to Sturgeon Bay. Today he ran north seeking to repeat some success he had in practice
