Kevin VanDam just caught his first bass in more than two hours. He went through the process of making sure it wouldn't allow him to cull up an ounce or two, but it didn't. VanDam continues to throw a jerkbait, usually in the midst of some thick timber. He's been hung up a lot today. He probably won't be the only angler complaining about a lack of wind today. But VanDam doesn't have much else to fret about. He's got his biggest bag of the tournament — around 17 pounds — and his first big bass — one in the 6- to 7-pound range.
