Shaw Grigsby and the need for privacy

We're perched about 40 yards away from Day 1 leader Shaw Grigsby this morning. He's fish behind a little island that is off the beaten path. On the other side of the island is the main body of the lake, and there are plenty of competitors there.

But Shaw has this little spot all to himself. It's easy to miss him until you get up close. And it's a sensitive area that's shallow — only 2 to 3 feet deep. If a bunch of spectator boats showed up here, it could easily mess things up for Shaw.

This all makes me think about the BassTrakk map. We made a decision recently to only run the map on Day 4. We wanted to give the guys the privacy they need to find and maintain their little hidey holes.

Watching Shaw today, and seeing what he did yesterday, reaffirms that decision. We're trying as much as possible to give you live coverage. But we don't want to have an impact on who wins the tournament. Hang with us, and we'll find plenty of ways to keep you updated.
