Hackney on the board

Greg Hackney just put a fish in the livewell the earliest he has all week, and it was a good one, about a 3-pounder. Hackney said he wasn't bothered by the fog delay yesterday because he didn't catch his first fish Thursday until 9:30. This one bit at 7:35.

It was under these conditions – cloudy, post-thunderstorm – during the three-day practice period earlier this week, when everyone was thumping 'em.

At Friday's weigh-in, Zell Rowland mentioned that Rick Clunn told him he'd had the best practice period he'd had in many years.

Maybe Hackney's early 3-pounder is an omen for things to come.
