Ike sets the hook on a short one

Mike Iaconelli has been steadily working his way up the creek from his starting spot. It was 7:15 before he put his first bass in the boat — a nonkeeper. Pete Gluszek says this is primetime. There's a full moon coming Sunday night, so the tides are getting a boost the next two days — higher highs and lower lows.

We're approaching dead low right now, it's still outgoing, and baitfish schools are everywhere. High tide scatters them; low tide bunches them and makes them easy pickings for predators.

Iaconelli had three 30-minute periods when he caught 15 keepers yesterday: Early morning, 10:15 to 11:00 and just before check-in. Those tides will happen 50 minutes later today, Iaconelli noted yesterday. Bites come in flurries.

As Gluszek mentioned, it's primetime for a flurry.
