Davis goes to backup hole

After 5 1/2 hours in one tiny spot, Mark Davis moved a half mile to the south, where he settled down in a similar spot. He hasn't caught a fish in nearly an hour -- since shortly after the sun came out.

Somehow his BASSTrack weight has climbed above 17 pounds, although we haven't seen him land a kicker fish lately.

We are leaving him alone and moving to a cluster of competitors who are steadily fishing their way southward, about the same distance off the shoreline as Davis. In a half hour or so, they'll drift over Davis' hotspot. I don't think he left much for them.

In this group are Kurt Dive, Matt Reed, Jason Willamson and J Todd Tucker. On up the lake are about 10 others. The pack is spreading out
some.
